Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, we head to the mountains to observe a family holiday tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree. We were so excited to have Dennis home with us for Thanksgiving, but this meant that he would not be with us this year to cut down our Christmas tree. Who was going to get down on all fours, get all muddy, and cut down the tree? McKay quickly assured me that he would take on the responsibility of cutting down our tree himself. Before we left home Friday morning to travel to Ogden, McKay said our family prayer. His prayer went as follows:
Please bless that me and uncle David will be safe while cutting our Christmas tree and that it won't fall on us and smash us. David had been elected to get muddy and cut down our tree.
We hiked all over the tree farm to find the perfect tree. This would be the first tree in our new house, so of course, it had to be just right. We finally found the one, and with a lot of help from both Grandpa Bryner and David, McKay safely cut down our Christmas tree.

OH, I love it! McKay is growing up. I'm glad you guys didn't get smashed cutting down your tree!
